UNGANISHA is a dance theatre extravaganza bringing together nine popular dance genres with roots on the diverse continent of Africa. Through movement and storytelling an all-Calgary team of dancers, actors, and choreographers journey through Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Cuban, Capoeira, Hip Hop, Jazz, Samba, Salsa, Step, and Tap Dance to celebrate their genesis, their contemporary popularity, and their ability to connect us across cultures and continents. This is an interstellar love story woven together with the lyrical thread of dance.
Venue: Martha Cohen Theatre
Date: February 2, 2019 – 2:00pm and 7:00pm
The performance is approx. 90-minutes in duration, with no intermission.

About Woezo Africa Music & Dance Theatre Inc.
Created in 2006, Woezo Africa Music & Dance Theatre Inc. has served as a platform for African Arts and Artists in both Edmonton and Calgary. By curating and participating in festivals, educational programming, and private and corporate events, Woezo Africa employs dance to nourish, educate, and heal.
UNGANISHA was first performed on February 17, 2018, at Mount Royal University’s Wright Theatre, and moves to the larger Martha Cohen Theatre to accommodate the interest and audience it has gathered.
