Uzoma Asagwara seeks NDP nomination in Manitoba’s Provincial election

Uzoma Asagwara is in the race for NDP Nomination in Manitoba’s Provincial election, with the hopes of becoming the MLA for a new constituency called Union Station. The Union Station encompasses Downtown, part of West Broadway and the West End, The Forks and the Central Park area in Winnipeg.

Uzoma is a Registered Psychiatric Nurse, Addictions Specialist, Mental Health advocate, Former Canadian Women’s National Basketball team member and is the founder of QPOC Winnipeg. QPOC creates safer spaces and initiatives for Black/Indigenous/People of Colour and Allies.

She has been actively involved in the constituency for years as a University of Winnipeg alumni, grassroots community organizer, community mental health advocate and serves on the board of directors of The Women’s Health Clinic and Plug In Institute of Contemporary Art.
