The host of the Emmy and Peabody award-winning Netflix Original Hip-Hop Evolution docu-series, Canadian rapper Shad is set to release his latest album titled “A Short Story About a War.” Friday, October 26 via Secret City Records.
The 13-track album touches on a long list of the world’s troubles, from war to migration, environment, politics, racism, hate, violence and greed with song titles such as Sniper, The Revolution/The Establishment, The Stone Throwers (Gone in a Blink), The Fool Pt 1 (Get it Got it Good), Peace/War, and The Fool Pt 2 (Water).
Shad was born Kenya to Rwandan parents who escaped the 1990 genocide but have since returned there to live in retirement. He was raised in London and recorded his first album, 2005’s “When This Is Over”, financing the project with $17,500 he won from a radio station talent contest.
The guest artists on the album include Yukon Blonde, Lido Pimienta, Steven Mulcare, Ian Kamau & Eternia
The first single off of the upcoming album titled “The Fool Pt. 1 (Get it Got it Good)” was directed by Justin Broadbent and is an ode to Shad’s truthfulness.
