REGINA – Born in Nigeria and moved to the “Queen City”, Regina, Canada in 2010, Precious Onungwe is a singer-songwriter with an unbeatable stage presence. His captivating rhythm is drawn from his African heritage while embracing Canadian pop culture. Precious likes to convey purposeful lyrics and melodies that encourage, comfort, and empower others. His style is influenced by songs like “Glory” by John Legend, “Wanna be Happy” by Kirk Franklin, “Hard Love” by NeedtoBreathe and other artists like Jennifer Hudson, Sia, Pharrel Williams, Tauren Wells, J. Moss, and Nickelback from the R&B Soul, Pop, Gospel, and Pop-Rock genres.
Precious started singing and performing at the age of 12 in high school choirs, musicals and church choirs. More recently, he performed the song “He Lives In Me” from Lion King during the 3-day show at the 2018 African Pavilion in Regina, “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen at the African-Canadian Resource Network end of year social event, performed at Tehillah Minstrel’s gospel concerts and private events. He also won “Best Singer and Performer” at the 2017 Colliers International social event.
Precious is very excited to announce the release of his first single titled “Champion” on March 15, 2019. This upbeat and soulful single will make you want to move. It is a message to his future self that there is no room to make excuses for not achieving dreams. It is about not allowing negativity to put a ceiling on his aspirations, but to face whatever comes, and win triumphantly – like a Champion.
The music video for “Champion” will be available for download on Spotify, iTunes, Google Play and other online streaming services on March 15, 2019.
Precious performed Champion on Talk of the Town Access 7 (Regina) which aired in February and also has been receiving play on CJTR 91.3.
Precious is over the moon, and looks forward to performing the single at upcoming live shows.
