Canadian professional soccer player, Alphonso Davies has signed a 4-year contract with a German football club, FC Bayern München.
As confirmation, FC Bayern München took to their social media platforms to officially welcomed the former Vancouver Whitecaps FC midfielder Alphonso Davies to the club.
The 17-year-old Ghana-born Davies, who has already made eight appearances for his Canada, will join on Jan. 1, 2019 and his contract will run through June 2023.
Media reports say Bayern is paying an initial fee of 11 million euros ($13 million), with another 9 million euros to follow in possible bonus payments.
Davies was born in Ghana to Liberian parents before moving to Canada in 2006. He made Canada’s national team debut at the age of 16. He’s the youngest player to play for Canada at the highest level.
