Edmonton author Dr. Lawrence Muganga has signed a $1.3-million book deal.

Edmonton- based author from Uganda, Dr. Lawrence Muganga has landed a publishing deal worth $1.3-million for his new book “You Can’t Make “Fish Climb Trees””.

According to CBC News, Muganga signed the lucrative deal with an international organization. The contract prevents the organization from being named.

Muganga,  through this book, is advocating and calling for a new approach to teaching students in sub-Saharan Africa. He is pushing for a shift in the education system that moves away from theoretical learning, such as lessons in geography and history of far-off places, to realistic learning that equips students with work skills they can use.

Dr. Lawrence Muganga, 43,  a policy advisor moved to Edmonton in 2011 to complete his Ph.D. in education at the University of Alberta.
